The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council is gearing up for the 14th annual year of ReTree, which will take place across two weekends this year, September 30 and October 7. Over the past 13 years, YVSC has planted over 23,000 trees in the Yampa Valley. This year will continue the fifth year of planting for the Yampa River Forest Restoration Project in partnership with the City of Steamboat Springs. The project aims to increase shade along the river to reduce water temperatures, improve riparian habitat, and sequester carbon. During the second weekend, Saturday, October 7 volunteers will be planting approximately 165 trees along a stretch of the Yampa at The Nature Conservancy’s Carpenter Ranch.

YVSC looks forward to convening valued community members, partners, and sponsors for this year’s event, and hope that you can join them for a day of tree planting, which will have a positive impact for years to come.
